Ali Zaoua by Nabil Ayouch
An amazing film. Here I will copy some from the back of the box.
"For Ali Zaoua, Ayouch cast homeless children from the streets of Casablaca. Ali Zaoua's urban landscapes are a far cry form the iconic images of the legendary film Casablanca. However, Ayouch's compassion toward children and their plight is evident in every frame of the film as he contrasts their stark reality with the fantastic dream world to which they seek to escape."
I wanted to cry while watching it. Little boys having to live lives harder than adults. One little boy grabbed my heart. Despite all he had to deal with, he was still innocent. But you saw it being taken away from him... but they all were still little boys. Regardless of what a kid has to go through, he's still a kid.
There is a mentality I find an assumption of our culture, that we are responsible for our circumstances, that we can rise above anything, if we try hard enough. Maybe fueling that mentality is the idea that man is responsible for his sin, da da da.
Well, I think sin is a lot bigger than our choices. I think most people, if you can get your head out of the Western world, were born without a choice. That's the slavery of sin. And if God wants to send someone to hell for something he didn't choose? It's God's decision, not man's. I'm tired of war, dammit.
