Hey Jordan, I read you want to be a computer programmer. My guess is that could lead to many possibilities. Where would you like computer programming to go for you? Designing games? I would like to design games someday. Would like to talk about computer programming on this thread to learn more about it. What are your thoughts on that? Not just Jordan, but Erick and others too. What are your thoughts on it?

ooh hoo hoo, now you've got me started, Right now I'm not sure where my programing is gonna get me but at the moment I'm thinking about doing some gaming code, but have also thought about doing just some of my own programs and selling them. What I have seen in recent years in programing is its really starting to slow down as for different programming languages are concerned, and from what I have seen the best code to come out so far would be C++, but Java is looking pretty good as well if they could only get the lag down issues if too much is going on in the background, the thing i see in it is basically it depends on what you are trying to do as for the program, for basic calculations and different "non-graphical" things Java works well, but for the more visually needed C++ is the way to go, but those two are just "programming", web based programing like HTML, PHP, and Flash, are all designed for the internet, were as C++ isnt as robust for internet, Java has some help in the matter with its Javascript. The way its going to get into any "good" programming jobs ill have to move out of the country to either Japan or the United Kingdom. and again this is just my view on it I would like to see more people getting into just technological stuff because when I look around in just Sioux Falls, I can see that we are actually starting to get "dumber".
Instead of trying to hide from Programming and technology we should embrace it and work towards better things in the future.
But I am starting to rant again so Ill leave at this, one day before I die I hope we will be able to create cybernetic capable people just by putting in a microchip at the base of the skull.

I think that you should go for it. It sounds like this might be your calling. Embrace the need to work for a better tomorrow.

Hey... have you looked at schools you where you would like to study, Jordan?
"because when I look around in just Sioux Falls, I can see that we are actually starting to get "dumber"."
Wondering if you would tell me why you think this.

I've looked around Sioux falls at the different tech programs but we are starting to actually decrease computer classes, I know just in the Sioux falls public school system they are cutting almost all of the computer classes. the only school left in Sioux falls that has some decent computer classes would be south east tech, and although i am a special case were they are sending me out to south east tech to learn about computer networks and things, the school district is focusing more on just the basics and no specialization we are starting to go back to our old days of hunting and gathering because not very many people specialize any more so we don't grow in any technological ways.

Back to hunting and gathering, huh? Yes... that is a bad prognosis, dear Jordan. Hmm... wondering if you have looked at any of the programs outside Sioux Falls, like Dakota State or USD? Part of me want to know, because I'm thinking of taking some computer science classes... would really like to understand programming. Someday I'd like to design games for kids to teach them language. I'm going into speech therapy. But I'd like to know what you look for when you look at a program too.

The really only way to tell if there is a good computer class at any "certain" school is to see if you can find out the name of the professor (sorry if i spelled it wrong) and see if he or she has done actual programing because with out real experience they cant teach you the real things.
